Workshop: Joe BlankenshipciuTshi - The Adaptable Data Operations Framework ...
ciuTshi is an adaptable, technology-agnostic data operations framework unifying content management, task management, data governance, and data management into a single metadata record. The workshop aims to introduce the modular framework, review its key concepts, and walk through a basic workflow using ciuTshi. At the end of the workshop, learners will understand the fundamental concepts behind metadata curation for organizational value metrics of their data assets. -

Workshop: Tim ToohillSemantic Knowledge Graph (SKG) - Let's Make Your Data Drip ...
We start with a simple dataset that we can use to answer some basic questions using Certus' SKG. We identify some new questions that we'd like to be able to answer, and then we find and explore some data sources that we can "connect" to answer these new questions. Using Python, we code a relatively simple ETL pipeline that enriches our original dataset and allows us to answer the new questions. Finally, we review SKG's ability to help users connect new, disparate data sources by leveraging their ontological overlap.

Tanya CashoraliProtocol Deviation Identification and Analysis with Shiny ...
A life sciences organization with multiple sclerosis and oncology drugs in the pipeline was looking for a better way to analyze protocol deviation data at the study and site level. They needed to understand sources of deviations and which sites are the largest contributors. Quickly identifying and addressing problem areas across sites is critical to a clinical trial’s success. Existing processes were time consuming, as investigators manually sifted through Excel sheets to understand which countries and sites were over or underperforming. A solution was implemented leveraging Shiny and R that enabled faster decision-making and decreased time to insight. R was used to pre-process data files and Shiny was used to visualize site and study performance, with the ability to drilldown to enable investigations. In this session, attendees will learn about the protocol deviation identification and analysis use case and see a brief demonstration of the Shiny solution. -

Malcolm HawkerThe Future of Master Data Management ...
As data volumes grow exponentially and organizations adjust to a new normal of constant disruption, business and data leaders are increasingly expected move at a pace and dexterity as never before experienced. Sitting at the core of this chaos is the data that’s always mattered the most, master data. In a world of transformation and change, companies that leverage modern, adaptive, and intuitive approaches to MDM processes and technologies will out-pace their competitors, and those who fail to embrace them will be left behind. In this presentation, Malcolm Hawker, ex-Gartner MDM analyst shares his insights into the future of MDM, including: -Why MDM will remain relevant -What ‘modern’ MDM will look like in the future -The future state MDM technical landscape -What data leaders should start doing to prepare -

Dipankar MazumdarApache Iceberg: Enabling an Open Lakehouse architecture for Data Analytics ...
Data Lakes have been built with a desire to democratize data - to allow more and more people, tools, and applications to make use of data. A key capability needed to achieve it is hiding the complexity of underlying data structures and physical data storage from users. The de-facto standard has been the Hive table format, released by Facebook, which addresses some of these problems, but falls short on data, user, and application scale. Apache Iceberg is a foundational technology for implementing an open data lakehouse, an architecture that addresses the limitations of traditional data architecture patterns. These limitations include having to ETL the data into each tool creating data drift and data silos, high costs making it cost prohibitive to make warehouse features available to all of your data and lack of flexibility forcing you to adjust your workflow to the tool your data is locked in. Apache Iceberg provides the capabilities, performance, scalability and savings that fulfill the promise of an open data lakehouse. In this talk, we will deep dive into Apache Iceberg & its architecture with the design benefits. -

Analytics product operations serves as a junction of product, engineering, and customer journey, and is an integral part of any product. Successful product operations lead to competitive products by continuously setting new industry standards. How do we achieve this level of excellence in our existing products? This can be achieved by setting the right vision for the product’s future, technology and employing standard practices. In this session, you will learn: 1) How to make different technologies within one organization collaborate with each other without worrying about expensive collaboration tools. 2) How cloud technology can make your product better. 3) How to constructively impact your work culture. 4) What external tools can add value to your products. 5) How to establish the present state of your product and build SLAs and metrics around it -

Charity GoldenThe Humanity of Data & Analytics ...
“The Humanity of Data” will explore the “why” behind analytics. Too often, companies react to the whims and insights in data without considering its broader meaning, impact on the world, or how they can help. This talk will challenge companies to develop a rigorous “rubric of consideration” based in their values so they can avoid chasing trends, be good stewards of their resources, and focus on their authentic drivers of “why”, “who” and “how”. -
